How to Play Ring Toss

Two females playing a ring toss game outdoors on a lawn, with trees and a brick building in the background.

Objective:
The goal of Ring Toss is to score points by throwing rings onto pegs from a set distance. Players compete to score the most points.

Instructions:

Setup:

  • Place the ring toss board or base on a flat surface.

  • Each peg on the board is assigned a point value, with higher points for more challenging pegs.

  • Mark a throwing line a set distance from the board. Adjust the distance based on players' ages and skill levels.

  • Divide the rings evenly among players.

Taking Turns:

  • Players take turns tossing their rings, one at a time, aiming to land them on the pegs.

  • Rings can be thrown underhand for better control and accuracy.

Scoring:

  • Points are scored based on where the rings land:

    • A ring completely encircling a peg scores its full point value.

    • If a ring touches the peg but doesn’t fully encircle it, no points are awarded.

  • Keep track of each player’s points after every turn.

Winning the Game:

  • After all rings have been tossed, tally up the points.

  • The player with the highest total wins the game.

  • For extra fun, play multiple rounds or set a target score to determine the winner.

Game Tips:

  • Focus on the pegs with higher point values, but don’t ignore easier pegs for guaranteed points.

  • Practice your throwing technique to find the right mix of aim and strength.

Perfect for parties, picnics, and family gatherings, Ring Toss is a timeless outdoor game that brings fun for all ages!
